When we greet one another, one of the phrases that we often use is "What do you know?'. Now, usually, we really do not want to know what the other person knows. It is just a way of greeting. This morning, I know you didn't ask, but I want to tell you what I know. I won't tell you everything I know…but I want to tell you a few things that I know, based upon the promises of the Word of God.
This Bible is literally a spiritual encyclopedia! God's Word is filled with important facts and principles for each of us. It is God's desire that we not spend our lives in ignorance, but that we know the truth.
(John 8:32) "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
In our text this morning, the blind man admitted that he didn't know everything, but there was one thing that he knew. He knew that once he was blind, but now he could see! I can identify with him.
I. I Know Where This World Came From.
A. God created it!
(Gen 1:1) "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
(John 1:1) "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
B. I do not believe in evolution.
1. I know that God created the world and all the universe.
2. I know that because the Book Of God says He did.
3. S.M. Lockridge said, "God created the world from nothing. The reason He created it from nothing, was that there wasn't anything for Him to create it from." Now, that is Scriptural!
(Heb 11:3) "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."
4. Someone said that if there was a big bang, that it was God who pulled the trigger!
5. God says that He spoke this world into existence!
6. I know that is true, because He is not a liar!
II. I Know Where This World Is Going
(2 Pet 3:10) "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."
A. One day this world will come to an end.
B. It will end just as it began…when God says it's time.
1. I believe we ought to be good stewards of what God has given us.
2. But, our focus shouldn't be upon the dwindling natural resources.
3. We should be more concerned with saving souls than with saving the whales!
4. We need to see it as an indication that God's Word is true, and this world is on its way out.
C. What should be our focus?
(1 John 2:17) "And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."
1. Knowing that the world is coming to an end should motivate us to…
2. Trust God for salvation…
3. And to live every single day of our lives for Him, and for His will.
III. I Know Whom I Have Believed
(2 Tim 1:12b) "…For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day."
A. He Loves Me.
1. He died on the old rugged cross for my sins.
2. He gave His life's blood as a ransom for my soul.
3. He loved me and gave all that He had for my redemption.
4. He looked beyond my faults and saw my need.
5. He became my sin so I might have His righteousness.
6. He suffered the eternity of hell in my place.
7. He was willing to give His life for all who will believe.
B. He Is Lord Of All.
(Acts 2:36) "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ."
1. He is the One in Whom I have believed.
2. He is the One in Whom I have placed my hope and faith.
3. He is the One Who will come and get me someday soon and take me to be with Him forever more.
4. That's the One I have believed in.
5. Do you know Him?
IV. I Know That I Have Everlasting Life
A. To some that may sound presumptuous.
1. But it really has very little to do with me.
2. It has everything to do with God.
3. You see it is His promise to those who will believe and accept the finished work of Jesus Christ.
4. It means that I believe what God has promised me in His Word.
(John 3:36) "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."
(John 5:24) "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
B. I don't have to wonder, and I don't have to wait to see.
(1 John 5:13) "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
C. One more thing I know…you can know all of this too!
1. You can know the God of Creation.
2. You can know the God of Salvation.
3. You can know the God of Eternity.
4. You can know Him today!
